Come along to this interactive session where a historian of medicine and a practising doula will compare how both the labouring mother and her attendants dealt with childbirth in the past and today. From breathing techniques to labour positions, herbal infusions, lighting, the use of soothing smells, and pain relief, there is surprising continuity in the way people give birth. There will be plenty of opportunities to ask questions throughout the event.
