Night at the library: books of hope and fear

(London)

Friday 18 November | 18.30–21.00

Three hundred and fifty years ago flames engulfed and destroyed much of London. Join us for an immersive historical escape game on the 350th anniversary of the Great Fire. Guided by historians, librarians and some very special guests from the past, participants will explore the recently refurbished Charles Holden-designed library of the Institute of Historical Research as they solve a series of puzzles based on the Great Fire with the help of the library’s extensive collections before a welcome drink in the Common Room. ‘Night at the library’ will challenge your views of the Great Fire, uncovering early modern fears about terrorism, religion, immigration and the hope of rebuilding.
