Under the Lens
20 November, 2020, 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm
Event Navigation

This is an online event.
Whether it’s under the lens of a microscope, camera, or magnifying glass, this event explores how humanities and sciences continue to work together, and how arts still contributes as we move into this new remote and restricted world.
In partnership with Fusion Arts, TORCH have collaborated with local schoolchildren to make images of the new world around them on photographic paper out in the open. As prizes are shared with the school children, Professor Wes Williams will lead the celebration event with humanities researchers, looking at the new ways of approaching the new ‘lens-led’ world we have all found ourselves in. Historians and linguists will share their knowledge of previous ‘lockdowns’ and how the historical lens can be used to inform our current situation.
The online celebration event will take place on Friday 20 November from 17:00 and will be streamed on YouTube here.
The images created will form a dynamic open-air exhibition available as soon as possible following the lifting of restrictions. The exhibition will also be available to view online here.
