Touching Identity: From Hand to Face (Film)

12 November, 2020, 1:00 pm - 22 November, 2020, 11:30 pm

This is an online event.

Tune in to watch a time-lapse film of the production of an original portrait by artist Lucy Burscough and hear a short discussion about the artwork, transplants, emotions and identity, where you’ll learn more about face and hand transplants. Featuring double hand transplant recipient Corinne Hutton, the film will explore ideas about donation and transplant, thinking about the connections between hands and faces. How similar are they? We use both to communicate, to convey emotion, and they are closely connected with our identities. They may also present similar surgical challenges, but are the personal issues the same?

This event contains no graphic images so is suitable for all ages, but is aimed at audiences of 18 and above.

The film will als be available to view for free on the ‘AboutFace’ website throughout the festival.
