17 November, 2019, 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Event Navigation

What was it like to be a suffragette on the run? How would you make the government listen? How do you make a disguise from an apple?
The Secret Lives of the Suffragettes is a free interactive workshop to mark the opening of an exhibition of suffragette artefacts such as defaced coins and copies of prison letters at Bantock House. All are welcome at our family-friendly, interactive event. You can explore what it was like to be a suffragette on the run and try to work out how they used everyday items to keep one-step-ahead of the authorities. Learn more about firebrand Lilian Lenton, the Elusive Pimpernell, and other forgotten suffragettes!
You may be lucky enough to win a pack of replica items and can see genuine objects from the campaign.
This event is part of the ‘Black Country Unscene’ series organised by University of Wolverhampton.
