The Covid Crisis and the Future of Global Capitalism
November 17, 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm
This is an online event.
In this round table discussion, leading thinkers reflect on how today’s crisis may affect patterns of globalisation and the structures of capitalism, as well as the impact of these changes on patterns of inequality. With the fallout of the coronavirus pandemic, humanity is standing at a crossroads. Might this global crisis mark the beginning of the end for capitalism, a chance to reduce inequality and rebuild a fairer society? Or is this an opportunity for ‘disaster capitalism’ to take hold? At a time when the future feels uncertain, many commentators are looking to history to make predictions.
This event is part of the hub series organised by the University of Glasgow.
