The Aquatic City’s Well of Ideas
14 November, 2019, 3:00 pm - 23 November, 2019, 6:00 pm
Event Navigation

Inspired by the Poet’s Box shops in which Dundonians once performed and printed their latest creations, this festival-long shopping centre hub will celebrate the city’s aquatic heritage through hands-on workshops, dramatic performances, film and visual art, and more. Get your hands inky with Pathfoot Press and their hand-operated letterpress. Watch some of Dundee’s most talented ‘zinesters’ hard at work. Explore ideas of place, environment, and climate change in writing workshops. Or join in making poems from found texts, and take your ideas home in broadside or ‘zine format. There will be everything from fishy crafts to face painting and stories by, and for, folk young and old. Every day, local writers will share a news bulletin sent direct from a secret civilisation living in the River Tay! Featuring special guests and surprises galore.
This pop-up shop will also operate as Dundee’s Being Human festival hub HQ, so pop by to find out more about the programme of festival events and to see the weird and wonderful treasures recovered from beneath. Is that a… Gameboy?
Find the pop-up in Unit V on the first floor of the Wellgate Shopping centre (at the top of the escalator, and next to ‘Iceland’.)
This event is part of ‘The Aquatic City’ hub series organised by the University of Dundee.
