Royal Institute of Philosophy Annual Debate

November 15, 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Has the nation state had its day? Chaired by Melvyn Bragg, this debate will address the motion ‘The Nation is an Institution which has Outlived its Usefulness’. It will be proposed by Leah Ypi from the LSE, where she is a professor of political theory, and she has written on migration, citizenship and internationalism. Opposing it will be David Miller from Nuffield College, Oxford, where he is professor of social and political theory. He has written widely on national identity, citizenship and justice, and is a well-known commentator on such matters.
