Plague Journal Café

20 November, 2020, 12:30 pm - 2:00 pm

This is an online event.

Tune in for a joint session on the use of speculative/dystopian fiction as both a premonition for the future and as a reflection of the current times. Jeff Vandermeer’s Annihilation and Emily Mandel’s Station Eleven will be used to discuss what it’s like to physically and psychologically navigate your way through a world on the verge of apocalypse and one where the apocalypse has happened. In both cases the key notion interrogated is that
‘survival is insufficient’.
