Nottingham Nature: Back to a Future?
November 21, 7:30 pm - 9:00 pmFree
This panel debate and question time event seeks to confront local and county-level species extinctions and what these have meant to us ecologically, socially and culturally over time. Both individual biodiversity loss and loss of bio-abundance have caused us to reflect on past-human practices and attitudes. The debate will also focus on emerging 21st-century conservation ambitions to return and restore some lost species to former haunts. Some of these rewilding energies within our ecosystems will go smoothly and receive widespread professional and public support. However, often because of the nature or behaviour of the species involved, there will at times be points of conflict. This event will seek to illuminate ways forward to ensure a vibrant future for both nature and people in Nottinghamshire.
Confirmed panellists include TV naturalist Mike Dilger and Dr Sara Goodacre of the University of Nottingham’s Nottingham Spider Lab. Panel to be chaired by Dr Rob Lambert.
