How to End a Life: Making a Killing in Crime Fiction
November 16, 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm
This unique workshop will unite a crime fiction author, criminologist, police representative and creative writing professor to explore ways of crafting authentic and innovative ‘endings’ in crime fiction. Crime fiction is the most popular form of genre fiction for 21st-century readers and writers. In such a heavily populated field, how can new authors craft innovative and authentic killings, crimes and ‘endings’ that will continue to engage and entertain contemporary readers?
The event will be held at the law court in Northumbria University. Working in this specially designed courtroom, you will gain real-life exposure to a courtroom scenario, develop skills in writing and debating the social responsibility of crime fiction authors. Working with a range of experts to construct and create authentic ‘endings’, you will consider how our most popular genre of fiction can promote public understanding of law, order and justice today.
