Reading’s newest professional dance company, Reside Dance, invite members of the local community to take part in two workshops that work towards a series of pop-up performances in several spaces within The Museum of English Rural Life.
The workshops will highlight your past experiences of migration and resettlement whilst responding to the history, architecture, collections and habitual pathways of each space. A performance will take place on the Saturday 25 November at 2:00pm where participants will guide audience members through the museum on a journey of migration and encourage them to discover their own sense of belonging to the people around them and the spaces that they inhabit.
Previous dance experience is not necessary as workshops will draw upon basic contemporary dance techniques, somatic movement (yoga, tai chi etc.) and everyday movement.
The workshops are free of charge (booking below). You must wear suitable footwear, such as trainers or pumps. Please ensure you are able to attend both workshop dates and the performance date before registering your place(s). Once you have registered your place(s), further information about dress code and requirements to participate will be provided in the booking confirmation email.
