Hardboiled on the Big Screen
16 November, 2019, 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm
How does classic Hollywood cinema represent the mother who will go to any length to defend her family? And are literary heroines domesticated on the big screen? Find out in this screening and discussion of The Reckless Moment, the film adaptation of 1940s noir novel The Blank Wall.
The screening will be accompanied by discussion with Persephone Books of how Hollywood’s representation of mothers and heroines deviates from their literary counterparts.
