Hall by the Sea: from Sanger’s to Dreamland

November 22, 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Aimed at school groups, this event will showcase the history of Margate’s Dreamland amusement park, from its Victorian origins in ‘Sanger’s Hall by the Sea’ to its ‘end’ by fire and 21st-century reopening. Margate has strong associations with youth culture, including the Mods and Rockers. How are these stories preserved and what can they tell us about what it means to be young at different moments in history? See behind the scenes of one of Kent’s best loved attractions and find out why being ‘old fashioned’ can be ‘oh so fashionable’.
