Get Your Tweed Out!

November 16, 10:00 am - 4:00 pm

During the 20th century, Orkney tweed was acclaimed globally for its lightness and softness and marketed as a legacy of the Vikings. Do you have some Orkney heritage in your wardrobe? Join this event to discover more about Orkney tweed, the people who made it and the fashion media that celebrated it. The event will include an exhibition, talk about Orkney tweed and a chance for you to share your Orkney tweed garments and the stories behind them. Bring along garments made from Orkney tweed from your wardrobe or attic so that we can construct a picture of the wardrobe of ordinary Orcadians in the decades before the arrival of synthetic, ready-to-wear garments.
