From a King to a Cartoonist

November 24, 10:00 am - 3:30 pm

Free

How can we use obituaries to learn about the lives of influential people from Royston’s past? Come and explore this question and get hands-on experience with museum research. You can browse copies of obituaries from the Royston Crow newspaper dating from 1855 onwards. The museums’s amazing photograph collection will be on hand for you to search through to find photos relating to the people. Researchers from the University of Hertfordshire will also be leading a session on carrying out local history research. The research will go towards an exhibition in the museum where participants will share what they have learnt. You’ll bring to life some of the people named in the obituaries and share their importance to the town.

You’ll also get a chance to use a magnificent Printing Press to create images related to some important local people including an artist, a doctor and a horse trainer.
