Finding Language

November 15 - November 24

free

Explore how languages begin and end through this multi-format event which includes exhibitions, film screenings and discussions. These films, artworks and stories ask what roles languages play in our identities and everyday lives. Languages are the beating heart of our culture; they transmit the values, beliefs and narratives which give definition to our lives. Yet they are one of the most difficult things to represent and discuss with our friends and families. This event will get you thinking about the heritage languages your grandparent’s spoke, the new languages your children speak, and the languages you use to collaborate with your colleagues at work.

‘Finding Language’ is led by Deirdre MacKenna in collaboration with Bernadette O’Rourke (Heriot Watt University), Wilson McLeod (University of Edinburgh) and Rhona Dougall (The Rockfield Centre).
