21 November, 2018 - 24 November, 2018
Event Navigation

This is the very first public exhibition of Glasgow-based artist Norman Gilbert’s drawings of his wife at the end of her life. The intimate images were drawn by Norman as he kept vigil for a week at his wife’s bedside in the hospital. Pat Gilbert, a retired art teacher, died of a stroke in 2016 having lived with Alzheimer’s for a number of years.
Accompanying Gilbert’s 12 drawings will be other local Dumfriesshire artist’s work on the theme of ‘origins and endings’.
You can visit the exhibition between Wednesday 21 November and Saturday 24 November between 10:00am and 4:00pm.
Members of the public are also invited to attend the opening on Wednesday 21 November, 5:00pm-7:00pm, when Norman and Pat’s son, Mark, will be present to discuss the drawings, alongside academics from the Glasgow End of Life Studies group of Glasgow University.
