Discovering Roehampton’s hidden treasures

25 November, 2017, 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Hidden in odd corners of the University of Roehampton‘s campus are fragments of the ancient world: vases and sculptures, heroes and goddesses. Follow the Activity Trail to discover how they came to be there, and what it felt like to (re)discover and (re)create these artefacts in the eighteenth century. Handle a collection of ancient pottery, arrange your own sculpture gallery or test your skill at imitating the exhibits, and learn about the fascinating history of Roehampton’s Grove House as you explore its grounds. The Activity Trail evokes the eclectic, creative, and playful approach to ancient Greece and Rome enjoyed by eighteenth-century recipients. No knowledge of classics required, but bring your sense of adventure… and prepare to travel back in time.

Suitable for all ages.

No booking required
