Death at Teatime

23 November, 2019, 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm

This free drop-in event aims to encourage wider conversations around death and dying in the UK and overseas. Through exploring both historical perspectives of death and bereavement, through to present day ethical dilemmas; anyone is welcome to come along, enjoy an afternoon tea and enter into the often-taboo discussion of death.

A range of researchers will be on hand to talk more about their work in medical history, classical archaeology, and contemporary medical ethics. The gathering is set amongst a backdrop of beautiful artworks titled ‘Beyond the body: a portrait of autopsy’ a collaborative project between social scientist Halina Suwalowska and artist Anna Suwalowska, depicting the ethical issues of autopsy.

This event is coordinated by Uncomfortable Oxford and the Wellcome Centre for Ethics and Humanities.

This event is open to all. Please be aware that this event is participatory and will involve open and inclusive discussion of death and bereavement.
