Constructing Remembrance (Exhibition)

November 20 - November 24

What is a war memorial? Is it a stone monument in a village? A poppy? A requiem? This event explores the concept of memorialisation: who did it? How did they do it? And how have the meanings of memorials created in the past changed? Following a series of workshops, the Longbenton RAF Cadets will share their ideas about memorialisation and the memorials they have created in this exhibition which explores the varied forms memorialisation can take and the challenges involved in creating a war memorial.

The exhibition will be open between 9:00am and 5:00pm. There is also a ‘Constructing Remembrance (Launch)’ event on Tuesday 20 November between 7:30pm and 9:00pm.
