Beyond the Battlefields: women and photography in WW1 is a symposium that will explore the role of women photographers across Europe during the Great War.

The event is being held to accompany the exhibition Beyond the Battlefields: Käthe Buchler’s Photographs of Germany in the Great War at Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery and the University of Birmingham.

The collection of photographs have been lent by the Museum of Photography in Braunschweig and have never been displayed before outside Germany.

Lunch and refreshments will be provided. There will be an opportunity to visit the exhibition at Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery at the end of the day from approximately 3.30pm.
