Architecture of the Future, Past and Present
18 November, 2020, 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm
This is an online event.
This event will explore visions of the future from the history of architectural design. For one night only, you can experience the Courtauld Institute of Art’s Conway Library as a virtual talking library. In short ‘PechaKucha’ style presentations (that’s 6 minute and 40 seconds per speaker), you’ll discover gems of the collection. Most of the photographs have never been digitised before, so you’ll be one of the first to see these newly-digitised treasures before the website is launched in 2021.
There will be plenty of time for questions, and you’ll gain an insight into the most ambitious photographic digitisation project in the UK! Volunteers and staff are currently digitising over one million photographs of architecture and design in the Conway. The library, deep in the basements of Somerset House, contains photographs, drawings, and plans for buildings that were once – and in some cases still are – visions of the future.
A recording of the event with closed captions will be shared after the live session and sent to ticket holders. For further accessibility information please contact the organiser.
