A Whole New World: Maps of the Derwent Valley Mills
16 November, 2020, 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm
Event Navigation

This is an online event.
The Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site was designated by UNESCO in 2000 in recognition of its importance as a place of industry for over 200 years. However, this World Heritage Site is not just about old buildings, but how people have lived in and used the landscape surrounding them.
In this online workshop, be inspired by Derbyshire Record Office’s collection of maps of the Derwent Valley in order to make your own maps out of simple materials (you will be sent a factsheet in advance so that you are prepared). A selection of the best that you create will be added to the Derbyshire Record Office’s collection to represent what the area means to us today.
This event is suitable for families. Please note, in order to join this event, you will be asked to read and agree to the University of Derby’s Online Safety Agreement; this will be sent to you to read prior to the event.
This event is part of the hub series organised by the University of Derby.
